Don’t Miss Nosizwe’s Play ‘Mother of a Nation’ in Oslo This Weekend!

For those who are in Oslo this week, we highly recommend going to Nosizwe Baqwa's play Mor av en nasjon [Mother of a nation] at the Nordic Black Theatre.

The last time the play was running, everything was sold out so now is your chance to experience this moving performance. To buy tickets, click here.

The play is running:

19 May, 19:30 CET

20 May, 19:30 CET

21 May, 19:30 CET

22 May, 18:30 CET

The play is a deeply personal and political generational story. Through a musical monologue, the story is based on the lives of Nosizwe's grandmother and mother and the main character's journey. The audience gains an insight into the lives of three women in three different eras and socio-political contexts, linked by blood ties and life experiences. Through recollection, interviews, imagination, testimony and music, we meet stories about love and family, loss and trauma, migration, fleeing and identity.

Nosizwe Baqwa has marked herself as a clear voice in Norwegian cultural life and public debate. She is an artist, singer, activist, feminist, actress and cultural communicator with the whole world in her heart. The solo performance is Baqwa's apple of the eye. In the autumn of 2020, it finally saw the light of day; in 2021, it came to the Nordic Black Theater for the first time; and now it is back as part of the celebration of the Nordic Black Theater's 30th anniversary.

We at the INSPIRE team are very proud that Nosizwe recently joined our platform of amazing and inspiring artists. Check out her artist profile on the website here.
