Trude Stapnes

Trude Stapnes is a doctoral researcher at the Peace Research Institute Oslo (PRIO) and in the Department of Psychology at the University of Oslo.

Trude is interested in the role of artists and activists in processes of social change. In her doctoral research, she focuses on art and creative practice in Myanmar, and explores how artists challenge dominant societal narratives through artistic expressions. She also looks at how activists engage with art and creative expressions in their work. Currently, Trude is part of a team organizing an outdoor exhibition in Oslo with Myanmar artists.

In her previous work, Trude focused on student activism in Myanmar, exploring driving psychological forces in initiatives for societal change. She holds a master's degree in cultural and community psychology from the University of Oslo and has worked as a research assistant on various projects at PRIO within the social dynamics department and for the PRIO Centre on Culture and Violent Conflict.
