Marte Nilsen is a senior researcher at the Peace Research Institute Oslo (PRIO).
Marte's expertise is on the interplay between ethnicity, religion and nation-building in political and violent conflicts in Southeast Asia – Myanmar and Thailand in particular. Her research interests include the role of popular culture, art, and indigenous ideas of legitimacy in struggles over democratization and peace.
